Lymph Drainage Massage

Lymph Drainage Massage works through the body's fluid system to activate the circulation of the tissues and stimulate the functioning of the immune system. The result of these actions can include reductions in dropsy, detoxification of the body and regeneration of tissue.

The proper functioning of the lymphatic system is critical to our body's ability to operate at peak performance. This system drains fluids, detoxifies and regenerates tissues, filters out toxins and foreign substances and helps us maintain a healthy immune system. If lymph circulation stagnates however, toxins accumulate and compromise cellular functioning, which opens the way to physical ailments.

Lymph drainage has powerful cleansing, relaxing and pain relieving effects. It is a gentle, flowing rhythmic massage which is very relaxing but also very healing. It is used to promote optimum function of the lymph system (The body's waste removal system).

Seated Thai Massage

Despite the name Seated Thai Massage originated in India during the Buddha's lifetime, over 2500 years ago. This form of massage involves manipulation using stretching techniques and gentle pressure along the SEN or energy lines of the body. It has a close relationship with Indian Ayurvedic medicine, yoga, traditional Chinese medicine and Japanese Shiatsu.

The aim of Thai massage is to release toxins and waste materials from the joints, muscles and connective tissue, and stimulate internal organs by gentle pressure on specific energy points. The therapist applies pressure to the client's fully-clothed body and carries out a range of gentle stretching movements. Clients are advised to wear loose, comfortable clothes.

Thai massage helps to relieve tension within the body and can be effectively used for pain relief. It improves the function of the lymph glands and blood circulation, balances the nervous system and clears out blocked and stagnant energy. It is appropriate for a range of musculoskeletal problems including back, neck and shoulder pain or tension. This form of massage is especially good for releasing stress and tension, and encouraging relaxation of both mind and body.

Swedish Massage

The term "Swedish Massage" refers to a variety of techniques specifically designed to relax muscles by applying pressure to them against deeper muscles and bones, and rubbing in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart It is claimed Swedish massage was developed in the mid 1700's by a Swedish doctor named Per Henrik Ling.

The main purpose of Swedish massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles. Swedish massage shortens recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissues of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes. It increases circulation without increasing heart load. It stretches the ligaments and tendons keeping them supple and pliable. Swedish massage also stimulates the skin and nervous system and soothes the nerves themselves at the same time. It reduces stress, both emotional and physical, and is suggested in a regular program for stress management.
