25th March at 13.10pm: Apologies but my health has gone backwards rapidly in the past few days. After a conversation with Eleonora, at this moment running Hermitage is too much for us. Therefore the countries have all been temporarily removed and no orders can be placed. Please note orders received upto the time of this message will all be dispatched by today. Earlier messages now deleted from the orange banner but note I hope by mid to late next week I can get involved again with the business and reopen the website to E.U countries. New product releases, I have written content for five new aromatics and the plan was, and still is, to get to ten, and release them all in one lot. This will happen across early April. At the sametime the lab is finished, we have set up and we will get staff employed. Written as my own objective this year for the business remains the same, that being to end the stop start and get Hermitage in a position whereby it continues to flourish with or without my daily involvement. Thank you, Adam : | PS - We will reply to emails we may receive upon our return.

Adam Michael has to say this “This Black Storax resin from Anatolia (Turkey) is utterly exquisite material that exudes sweet powdery vanilla notes throughout. This material effortlessly transports my mind to some far flung exotic country in the early hours of the morning, greeted with a warm air and a gentle breeze of this scent constantly washing over me. Extracted from the leaves and twigs, a must for using on an oil burner** and a must for tincturing as the vanilla notes are far more pronounced than you would ever find within the essential oil of storax (not styrax) as it is different starting material, a different chemistry and subsequently an entirely different aroma.”
Botanical Name: Liquidambar orientalis
Origin: Turkey
** At Hermitage Oils should you wish to burn the material neat we would recommend burning the material on an oil burner opposed to using charcoal disks. If you follow this recommendation we also advise placing a piece of foil in the well of your oil burner and then laying the resin on top. This prevents lots of mess and cleaning after use and by using an oil burner you get to enjoy much more of the aroma of the resin than when using charcoal disks.

I was unprepared to the strength of this material and when I opened the delivery box, I was instantly enchanted. The whole box smelled of it and from then on in a few hours the whole room was lit with this pleasant scent. Then decided to tincture it as soon as possible. For a first few seconds the tincture smells of smooth, but slightly peppery (to me undefined) smokiness, then transforms to propolis and honey and becomes vanilla like, sweet, warm and powdery, and so much more. There is so much complexity in it, I can sometimes smell even some flowers hiding almost invisibly in there. A great joy this brought me, so happy I bought it.

This is a beautiful material to work with; I use it to make scented paste to model into beads for jewellery. The scent lingers for such a long time, and the colour is perfect to make a deep, black paste. It is also very difficult to source, so I was delighted that Adam started to stock it!
