25th March at 13.10pm: Apologies but my health has gone backwards rapidly in the past few days. After a conversation with Eleonora, at this moment running Hermitage is too much for us. Therefore the countries have all been temporarily removed and no orders can be placed. Please note orders received upto the time of this message will all be dispatched by today. Earlier messages now deleted from the orange banner but note I hope by mid to late next week I can get involved again with the business and reopen the website to E.U countries. New product releases, I have written content for five new aromatics and the plan was, and still is, to get to ten, and release them all in one lot. This will happen across early April. At the sametime the lab is finished, we have set up and we will get staff employed. Written as my own objective this year for the business remains the same, that being to end the stop start and get Hermitage in a position whereby it continues to flourish with or without my daily involvement. Less cineolic than the essential oil, this transparent, readily pourable liquid from Guatemala is peppery, fresh, and quintessentially cardamom at its top—not to mention its notably diffusive! Three hours in on the strip and it continues to display electrifying tenacity as additional notes redolent of chai, tiramisu, the convivially sweet and spicy, tickle the nose playfully. The dry down is more mellow, balsamic, almost reminiscent of mesquite wood chips. This versatile material could impart a masculine (or unisex) touch in blends, pairing well with citrus, coriander, Indian spices, chypres, dry woods, barber shop accords, incense accords.”

I see Cardamom as one of those rare ingredients that can shake one’s perception of flavor and scent. It complements bitter coffee, sweet mango, salty beef, citric lemon and umami cheese while still being plenty identifiable and addictive on its own. I use pods and powder to cook all the combinations above and this CO2 is the closest thing to the real deal you can get, being spicy, fresh and creamy at the same time. Also, it is as tenacious and diffusive as any other noble spice, so a little goes a long way.
Your imagination and your cultural references are the only limitations to what you can do with this offering. You can head Turkey and blend it with Coffee for an invigorating fix or evoke India mixing it with Cinnamon, Clove and Black Pepper for a relaxing chai. You could blend it with a bit of Tonka Bean, your favorite berry and Cedarwood Atlas to feel like a Viking eating a Julekake after conquering riches in distant shores. Or you could even step away from culinary inspirations and use its balsamic properties to enrich pale woods, give a twisted nuance to forest concoctions or add that little touch of genius to run-of-the-mill summer colognes.
It doesn’t matter what you decide to do with this masterpiece, I think it can handle pretty much any crazy idea thrown its way.

Incredibly dry, modern and interesting top note and works well in stark, modern pieces using synthetic musks, ISO E SUPER, cashmeran etc… to create clean but spicy effects.
It’s very versatile though and this is just one example as I’m still learning how to effectively utilise it.

I agree with the previous comment – the scent is very versatile, rich and it has got something that brings to mind other Indian spicies (from which I could easily recognize cinamon ) Strongly recommend this delicious scent – it is quite remarkable and lovely.

A staple from Hermitage for me for years. The steam distilled version does not hold a candle to the CO2. It is almost a perfume in itself. Let it sit on the strip for a few hours and let yourself be taken on an olfactory journey that you never thought would be possible for a bottle of something that’s made from a kitchen spice.
