Chios Mastic 20% Tincture

Eleonora Scalseggi has this to say “Produced from the most prized Mastic resin (Chios Mastiha) sourced directly in the tiny island of Chios, where it is traditionally used and exported worldwide for the most diverse purposes ranging from fine arts varnishes to dental products and candies flavour, this tincture displays all the fresh resinous, green – terpenic, bitter – cleansing facets of true mastic.

Finely ground and then tinctured in alcohol at 20% and matured for over a year it makes a cost-effective alternative to the pricier essential oil material, it can be used mainly as a topnote modifier and thanks to its resinous nature (it’s very sticky) it also will improve tenacity of perfume compositions.

Arctader has this to say “(Mastic) is an interesting perfume material and a good fixative, e.g. for mimosa compounds where it introduces “twig-odor” effect. It can also be used in straight floral bases to produce a bittery-woody, natural undertone and a good fixation”.
