25th March at 13.10pm: Apologies but my health has gone backwards rapidly in the past few days. After a conversation with Eleonora, at this moment running Hermitage is too much for us. Therefore the countries have all been temporarily removed and no orders can be placed. Please note orders received upto the time of this message will all be dispatched by today. Earlier messages now deleted from the orange banner but note I hope by mid to late next week I can get involved again with the business and reopen the website to E.U countries. New product releases, I have written content for five new aromatics and the plan was, and still is, to get to ten, and release them all in one lot. This will happen across early April. At the sametime the lab is finished, we have set up and we will get staff employed. Written as my own objective this year for the business remains the same, that being to end the stop start and get Hermitage in a position whereby it continues to flourish with or without my daily involvement. Thank you, Adam : | PS - We will reply to emails we may receive upon our return.

Adam Michael has this to say “This guaiac heart essential oil is produced by molecular distillation of guaiac essential oil, the intention is to better showcase the woody and lactonic facets. I would describe this aroma as being masculine but also very mellow, creamy, lactonic with far less of the smoky qualities found within the regular essential oil.
This material has many uses, a good fixative, brilliant for building soft-woody and floral-woody accords, pairs especially well with suederal, pemou, massoia and orris materials and delivers interesting effects within musk blends.”

I bought this one almost on a whim based on the description. Knowing the regular EO’s smoked profile, I thought that ‘the Heart version’ would be maybe nicer and less akin to bacon, which Guaiac Wood strongly reminds me of. To my surprise, the leap of faith paid off brilliantly well and this offering soon became one of my favorite woods.
There’s something meditative in this EO that makes me reach some really internal safe place. Milky with dark caramel whiffs, this soothing hardwood seems to be very eclectic: it supports citruses, fruits, vanillas, herbs, hays, other woods, resins, herbs and flowers with equal ease.
I can’t pinpoint one single astonishing result I got from it, but, from initial tests, I’m positive that Guaiac Heart will be the perfect ground for a Vanilla – Malagueta – Pink Pepper – Cumin and Mandarin Red blend that I’m eager to try.

This is really the first time I see this precious essential oils guaiac wood, decided to buy feel listened to a lot of lectures, but it is also not as thick as benzoin solid essence of life, although I have been heard that the flavor of the guaiac wood like the smell of smoke, but my own feeling is light some, when received, catch up with family gout attack, just ACTS as an anti-inflammatory analgesic guaiac wood, clean up the role of blood vessels.

This material is like a warm hug from your grandfather. Uncomplicated, classic, with a weathered masculine sweetness that comes from age and wisdom. Works incredibly well with all frankincense materials, coaxing out their sweet resinous core while improving their longevity.

I was tempted by the description and bought it. No wonder it was used as an adulterant for rose oils. Oh, they’re there, I can smell them. Along with this indescribable dewy fresh, fleeting green tea nuanced, but somehow resin-woody-cosy-warming-on-the-inside atmosphere it exudes. Also a bit pink pepper peppery with toned-down paper notes. They compliment those roses so flatteringly, somehow helping them them to stay present throughout. Soooo nice. I really am grateful to Hermitage Oils for bringing so much exquisite materials to our (my) attention. And also that the descriptions of the materials are so accurate. That helps, too 🙂

My first experience with Guiaic oil. It is smoky but this is a subdued smokiness not something overpowering. There is a lot more to this oil though. It has something very fine at its heart; lactonic -yes, refined and smooth. Very pleasant and a great piece for a perfumers collection.
