Joseph Colbourne has this to say “This helichrysum absolute is easily pourable, pale gold material and of a moderate viscosity. This mellifluous, agrestic beauty originates from France through molecular distillation. Helichrysum Md absolute, also known as Immortelle, opens with mellifluous richness, acacia honey, wildflowers like daisies and black-eyed susans, both scintillating and earthy to the nose. Facets of green flowers, summer meadows, and steeped oolong tea reveal themselves a few minutes in. It further develops into a base of lingering honey, dry woods, and freshly mown hay. Subtle tea and fenugreek overtones lend a sweetly exotic edge to this absolute which captures the spirit of sun-dried everlasting flowers. There is notable tenacity, 24+ hours on the tester strip. Helichrysum can impart a harmonizing effect to citrus, incense, and aromatic blends.”
Arctander has this to say ”Everlasting Absolute is used in perfumery for its deep-sweet, honeylike, tobacco-like notes, and for its fixative effect.” He goes on to add “….the absolute has an extraordinary ability of rounding off and “bouquetting” a fragrance which may need life and naturalness. It blends well with coumarin, flouve, lavender, lavandin, sage clary, citrus oils, linalool, rose bases, phenylethyl alcohol, Peru balsam oil, clove bud oil, etc. Its effect in rose bases and heavy-floral Oriental fragrances can be quite unique and successful.”

I absolutely looooove this extraction of helichrysum. It is by far my favorite. It is sweet like maple syrup and honeyed and not as herbal as the essential oil. It’s delicious and if you haven’t tried you should because you’re missing out! It’s very tenacious and a little goes a long way. Very fixative too. I just love it
