25th March at 13.10pm: Apologies but my health has gone backwards rapidly in the past few days. After a conversation with Eleonora, at this moment running Hermitage is too much for us. Therefore the countries have all been temporarily removed and no orders can be placed. Please note orders received upto the time of this message will all be dispatched by today. Earlier messages now deleted from the orange banner but note I hope by mid to late next week I can get involved again with the business and reopen the website to E.U countries. New product releases, I have written content for five new aromatics and the plan was, and still is, to get to ten, and release them all in one lot. This will happen across early April. At the sametime the lab is finished, we have set up and we will get staff employed. Written as my own objective this year for the business remains the same, that being to end the stop start and get Hermitage in a position whereby it continues to flourish with or without my daily involvement. Thank you, Adam : | PS - We will reply to emails we may receive upon our return.

Adam Michael has this to say “The aroma of this 10% hyraceum tincture is a complex animalic wonder that exudes a cocktail of musk, Cambodian oudh, civet, skunk, aged woods, dried tobacco leaves, hay and castoreum.
This material originates from the Rock Hyrax (Procavia capensis), a type of desert living rodent-like creature. Rock hyrax live in colonies, many of which have existed in the same regions for thousands of years. In these locations there is a build-up of semi-fossilised waste, by now fairly sterile, that can be mined and extracted whilst not causing any harm to the animals.
This material has good fixative value and is useful for building and developing tobacco accords, masculine chypres, marine notes, barbershop accords, vetiver accords, musk accords and leather bases whilst also being useful in trace amounts for increasing the longevity of white floral notes.”
This hyraceum tincture is produced from South African sourced material, tinctured in 96° ethanol and at the time of writing (13th June 2019) is now one year aged material.
Unfortunately, this material cannot be shipped to Australia or America

Olor delicioso, cálido, olor a madriguera.

I’ve noticed some wonderful results adding this material in trace amounts to my tobacco mixes and floral ones too.

As usual, Adam’s description is spot on. Hard to believe, but there really are notes of oud, civet, skunk, aged woods, dried tobacco leaves, hay, and castoreum. This material is light years superior to any other that I’ve tried, far better even than a hyraceum-sandalwood maceration that I purchased from a premium vendor, and at a fraction of the price.

Really useful animal note. The 10% dilution is still potent. I’ve used it in all kinds of blends and it’s really versatile–a great fixative as well (as the description says).

So grateful to Hermitage for offering this tincture! It’s everything you could possibly want and have dreamed of when hoping to be able to experience this material but could not or would not work with the fossilized pellets and wait for the magic to happen in a tincture. The complexity is mind-blowing and yes, 10% is plenty strong enough for anchoring a floral creation in multi-faceted layers of mysterious ground.

The go-to product to add a cruelty-free animalic note to perfume. Mixes beautifully with other base notes (esp. Cistus Absolute) to create a rich, leathery, earthy effect. It can be a challenge to work with as a little too much of this, and the urine/fecal notes will take over.

As someone who is uneasy about using animal related products, this one put my mind at rest when I found out how the material is collected and produced. An easy reach when needing to add a little natural musk to a blend.
