17th April at 2.15pm: Quick update to say all orders placed on the 9th have been collected just now by DHL. Orders placed on the 10th and 11th will all leave by the 19th. I will type again on Friday regarding orders placed from the 12th onwards. Other news, by Friday I am releasing a few more very big ticket rarities including our Italian Oakwood Absolute and a super grail rose otto. Thank you, Adam : )
15th April at 5.30pm: Today I am running behind but I am happy to say that along with all E.U countries, we now can supply to the USA again. USA switched on just now and the Mysore Sandalwood 4 year aged E.O offer is extended for a week for USA clients to enjoy too. By Wednesday 17th all orders from the 9th April will be dispatched with DHL. Although we are rather full-on with orders at the moment, the lead time will improve significantly very shortly. Reason being since reopening the focus has been solely on building stocks up and we have staff coming on as well now (at last!). I will write again on Wednesday regarding lead times. This week my tasks are to get on top of the SDS we are owed by the company we have employed to handle this. And other than this I am adamant I will update the bulk wholesale list with more aromatics. Finally for now - the following 11 aromatics have recently been added to the site - French Rose Geranium E.O, Sandalwood Mysore E.O 4 Year Aged, Tuscan Olive Leaf Absolute, Mitti Attar (Petrichor), Persian Queen of Roses (Otto), Tomato Leaf Absolute, Oud Assami Skank E.O V.1, South Indian 10 Year Aged Vetiver E.O, Bengali Nagarmotha E.O, VIolet Leaf Concrete, Italian Helichrysum Absolute S.G. Thank you, Adam : )

Adam Michael has this to say “Katrafay essential oil is deeply stimulating, exuding a most exquisite masculine aroma that is a perfume in its own right. Dry, woody, green, earthy, fulsome, warm, clean throughout. For perfumery uses, an absolute must for male grooming products, for building forest floor accords, the perfect middle material (in my opinion) for pairing sandalwood with cedarwoods, works delightfully with pepper oils, green, black, pink etc, improving the smooth and creamy characteristics effortlessly. Also works very well within citrus colognes, more so those that contain yuzu or cedrat and generally katrafay is a really useful material to have on hand at all times.
The tree grows chiefly in Madagascar and is for me at least, visually stunning as the leaves on the branches are pear shaped and noticeably spaced. The tree which grows to heights of about 6.5 metres also produces a flower and is used in Hasmanga which is a religious ceremony; in fact when these religious ceremonies take place and an animal is sacrificed and cooked it is only the katrafay plant parts that are used to keep the open fire going. Katrafay essential oil is obtained by steam distilling the bark and the colour is gorgeous yellow gold. Picture taken at the Ranunafama National Park, Madagascar.”
Botanical Name: Cedrelopsis grevei
Origin: Madagascar

Sometimes you need to be a gambler too and order blindly some oils and especially in hermitage store you you can’t go wrong..Katrafay is a masculine oil that has that citrus underneath tone ..its warm and almost spicy..i love it

Somewhere between cedarwood and vetiver, but lighter and with a slight green-ness – also with a stony/earthy undertone, like the smell just before it starts raining. I could see this being a very useful material.

Initial overview of Katrafay made me sigh a little as I willed it to be a beautiful addition to my fragrances and an inspiring individual oil. I came back to it serveral weeks later with my business partner to review it with fresh synapses and the joy of jalepenos, unpolished wooden surfaces and a yomp through the Scottish bracken. Wild and tantalising.

Very green, very enlivening. Masculine, with a spiciness that reminds me ever-so-slightly of opening a jar of pickled gherkins.

Another one of those materials that makes you wonder how you ever lived without it. Blending with it is almost cheating. Throw it at basically anything and that thing will be improved. While it certainly is a masculine leaning scent, it does incredible things to heavy florals, and helps balance overly sweet accords beautifully. Or go full throttle and pair it with a dark Papuan Oud along with some citrus and pepper (black pepper absolute, I’m looking at you!) and you’ll feel like Indiana Jones dusting off his fedora after narrowly escaping death and making off with the temple’s loot!
