Lemongrass (EAST INDIA)

Adam Michael has this to say “East Indian lemongrass (Cymbopogon flexuosus) grows mainly in Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh (actually more South India!) either way this species does differ chemically from the other commonly available material – West Indian lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus aka Cymbopogon schoenanthus) which generally contains more citral and mycrene and less neral.

Aromatically this material is grassy, somewhat dry-sweet with a light floral almost rosy-sherbet lemon scented tint. Produced by steam distilling the leaves, yellow in colour, of a pourable viscosity and comes with a slightly longer and more stable shelf life compared to West Indian material, so maybe a better option for therapists and perfumers.”
