25th March at 13.10pm: Apologies but my health has gone backwards rapidly in the past few days. After a conversation with Eleonora, at this moment running Hermitage is too much for us. Therefore the countries have all been temporarily removed and no orders can be placed. Please note orders received upto the time of this message will all be dispatched by today. Earlier messages now deleted from the orange banner but note I hope by mid to late next week I can get involved again with the business and reopen the website to E.U countries. New product releases, I have written content for five new aromatics and the plan was, and still is, to get to ten, and release them all in one lot. This will happen across early April. At the sametime the lab is finished, we have set up and we will get staff employed. Written as my own objective this year for the business remains the same, that being to end the stop start and get Hermitage in a position whereby it continues to flourish with or without my daily involvement. Thank you, Adam : | PS - We will reply to emails we may receive upon our return.

Adam Michael has this to say “Sweet marjoram is a useful oil for steam inhalation, noticeably clearing the chest and easing respiratory difficulties. A hot bath containing 3 drops of this oil will help with the miseries arising from the common cold and will relieve sore achy muscles. Added to carrier oil it can be massaged into the throat and chest areas to sooth tickly coughs due to its warming, analgesic and sedative nature.
Sweet marjoram is a calming sedative that is used as aid to induce sleep. It should not be abused however, because it can have a deadening effect on the emotions, dulling the senses and in large amounts is overwhelming. A hot compress over the abdomen can ease menstrual cramps.
The aroma is herbal warm, sweet and slightly spicy with camphoraceous undertones. Produced by steam distilling the leaves and flowering tops, the colour is rich yellow-reddish and of a pourable viscosity.”
Botanical Name: Origanum majorana
Origin: Egypt

Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love and lust, had this herb as her dearest in the whole world, proclaiming its scent to dignify lovers and bring good luck. It seems to grow like a weed in Brazilian’s countryside dispersing its sweet and soothing aroma all around after heavy rains. I used to mark book pages with it before I even knew what ‘perfume’ was.
As a working material, I think this is very delicate and tends to fade into the background. It’s not a problem with Hermitage’s offering but one of Marjoram’s Sweet greatest features: it adds a romantic, almost nostalgic, layer into pastoral creations that the likes of Coriander, Caraway or Verbena would not be able to provide with their bite and punch. Where others would grab the spotlight and scream “feel me!”, this one will quietly hum for a time, patiently waiting to be noticed, and then vanish with a kiss.
