Zanthoxylum ORGANIC E.O

Adam Michael has this to say “As I type, I am off work, and in this moment, consumed by the simple yet beautiful charm that is our Zanthoxylum essential oil.

What we have here is such a thirst-quenching, juicy, waxy, fruity, through to juicy berry aroma profile, finished with hints of pink pepper, ginger and palma rosa. Wow.

The note profile, whilst very group specific, showcases a whole host of citrus notes, from concentrated orange, candied lemon, freshly squeezed white grapefruit juice (tart), sugared lime juice, and to my nose I detect summer ripe peaches and notes reminiscent of lychee juices swirling within my mouth. And of course expect lots of berry character, in a fantasy sugary sweet form, blackberries, blackcurrants, maybe even a hint of goji, but again, presented in this sweet non-serious, child-like form.

In fact I have to say, this combo of citrus fruit through to fruit-fruit notes does remind me somewhat of Litsea cubeba albeit Zanthoxylum is brighter and is complemented with pink peppery nuances in the back, so milky, creamy, lightly spiced and piercing.

Overall what is not to like, this is a top note aromatic with lots of aromas to discover and enjoy. On the strip this material is at its best for about 2 hours and is vaguely detectable on the strip after a day. Highly recommended and as for uses, Joseph sums this up perfectly below.”

Joseph Colbourne has this to say “A transparent essential oil of easily pourable viscosity, zanthoxylum essential oil undoubtedly has a unique scent profile. Its top is redolent and effervescent, bringing to mind rosewood paired with the mildly sulphurous undertones of over-ripened tropical fruit, perhaps mango or starfruit. Its both bitter and sweet, pungent and soothing. As it dries on the tester, it displays are more sensual, peppery, balsamic quality, reminiscent of elemi. Its longevity if approximately five hours, making it a heart-top note. Zanthoxylum is a quandary for the nose, which makes its prospects as a perfume material all the more exciting. One may experiment with it in incense blends, precious woods accords, tropical fruit accords, oriental florals and chypres. Pair with ginger, galangal, cardamom or citrus for eyebrow-raising effects.”
