As of 16th February 2026 we have another batch of oud from the exact same source with an almost identical profile to that mentioned below. Produced in 2022 and 4 years aged at the time of typing. The fruity aspects within this batch are outstanding and as such I am more than content to release this under the Oud Bo-Rai name. Thank you, Adam.
Adam Michael has this to say “The opening here is steroid heavy, floral-fruity sweet, think – ripe mangoes, lychee, jackfruits, star-apples (yum), frangipani flowers, white lotus flowers, papaya juice, white grape juice and you are on the right track. This opening develops in strength on the skin and strip across the first few hours.
The heart notes are all incense themed – comparable to the very best batches of South American sourced White Copal tinged with true Turkish Black storax flakes. The way these incense qualities play with the fruit and floral components is pure bliss. This is truly a perfume in its own right albeit one of which can be developed further with the addition of other Oriental florals – blue lotus, more frangipani, Champaca, mimosa, Sambac Jasmines – especially Chinese, roses – from the usual to the unusual, pairing like a marriage made in heaven for example with our Cymosa Tratt Rose for example. Fellow woody aromatics such as sandalwoods, jade woods, Siam woods, cabreuva woods, oakwoods all adding value and helping build this Bo-Rai Oud into a work of art.
Simply this is a crowd pleasing oud – the notes here are ones that are non-offensive and equally a scent spectrum everyone can love. But this oud lends itself so well to being that building block whereby with a few tweaks here and there, you can create an utter masterpiece perfume. This oud is best friends with everyone in the fragrance wheel and as we leave the heart notes and go into the long-drydown, the notes here are all woody themed – and all clean oud woody themed noles, following in a similar vain to that of smelling clean wild Naga ouds that can easily cost 10x more.
All the top oud names online have dabbled in these Bo-rai offerings and understandably so. 100 hours plus on the strip and still counting, 6 hours in top form on my skin type, jewel red to brown-red in colour subject to volume/weight and of a pourable viscosity. Wonderful oud and recommended to everyone.”

Crassna itself is very fruity, but this oud showcases a typical young Bo-Rai profile: jammy compote sweetened by a touch of honey. But it’s not overly sweet like my other Bo-Rai oil which sometimes feels too cloying to even smell. Here I even detect a nutty aspect from the opening that’s characteristic of some Thai oils. Also quite green, but not in the sense of jungle woody green. More like fruity fresh transparent greenness.
Very clean, probably unsoaked. Pleasant and the most inoffensive oil in my collection. Indeed a crowd-pleaser.
If you’re looking for your first oil, this is a safe bet. However, considering the new price of the second batch, I would suggest looking for something more daring instead. Fortunately, Hermitage offers other interesting regions and species.

Almost like opening a bag of gummy candies with a refreshing note of menthol and beeswax absolute. It chasing down a dark alley becoming much more woody. Not Skanky at all. Mark of a good oud distillation is that beeswax note.
Has that remarkable smell of whiteboard markers too, making it addicting to my fellow individuals that also liked eating glue as a kid (to that effect :D)

Fruity yes, but also very oudy (jungly-green) & woody, all in a clean/non-barny way with a touch of honey, never too sweet or fruity, balanced out well. Basically a nice representation of Thai oud that won‘t offend most people.

If you’ve ever had the desire to sit in a dark forest and inhale your refreshing tropical fruit salad.
Then try this oud.
A fruity delight.
