Adam Michael here : ) Within this category you will now find all of the aromatics we carry in an A-Z format regardless of extraction methods used. I want to add that the vast majority of what we source is done so off the beaten path via small scale artisans. The key reason being we favour supporting fellow small scale businesses because the end product is nearly always of a superior quality to that of what big corporations produce and/or source – in our opinion. And by quality of which is a very overused and devalued word in this line of work, I mean aromatics that provide a truer to life representation of the plant part in its living state.

Since moving to Tuscany, myself and my wife Eleonora have slowly turned our gardens into a library of scent. 60 rose bushes covering a huge spectrum of scent profiles and made up of some antique varities,  jasmines especially sambac, polyanthum, grandiflorum. Osmanthus, citrus plants galore, from chinotto, lemon, orange, yuzu and countless more, tuberose – a huge undertaking every year as they flower only once. Violets, peony, winter sweet, clary, lavenders, gardenias, varieties of honeysuckle, coffee plants, lychee, frangipani, blue lotus, pink lotus, wild strawberries, artemisia, tagetes, laurel, geraniums, all the herbs you can imagine, grapes, mimosa, lindens, elderflowers, cherries, figs, wisteria, daffodils, ginger lily, nasturtiums, the list is absolutely exhaustive and our gardens are ram packed with scent. Outside our home we are surrounded by genets, pines, cypress and olive trees as well.  And we have even invested in custom built greenhouses now so that we can better understand aromatics that don’t fare well here in the Tuscan climate. And this has enabled us – and especially me – to better understand how aromatics smell in nature. Written as I feel this additional effort plays a big part in helping us bring the best aromatics to the table.

Please note: Despite their quality, all of our products are of a highly concentrated nature and are therefore to be strictly intended for perfumery and aromatherapy use only. Hermitage Oils strongly discourages internal consumption of the products, which are not intended to be used as foods in any capacity. All photos and images on this website have the sole purpose to evoke the raw materials from which the products offered are obtained, their place of origin or their scent.
