Styrax Essential Oil TRUE

Adam Michael has this to say “What we have here is styrax essential oil, obtained by steam distillation of the crude material. This E.O (Released on 21.02.25) is a significantly brighter, more intense smelling aromatic compared with the absolute resin offerings of styrax.

The opening notes of styrax essential oil are heavily aquatic cinnamon bark spice, powdered cinnamon, cassia orientated and complemented with sticky-sweet honeyed qualities. As this material develops on the strip the cinnamic backbone remains and floral impressions – in both trace and mash-up form come through. To my nose reminiscent of mimosa olessence flowers, fresh genet and freesias. Perhaps also some lilac qualities as Arctander suggests. Throughout its lifespan this is actually a very bright aromatic with sparkle esq type cinnamic sensations, of course due to the principal constituent, that is cinnamic/cinnamyl alcohol. The colour is water white to very pale yellow, 100 hours on the strip in optimal form.”

Arctander has this to say “Styrax Oil is used in numerous types of floral perfumes, e.g. lilac, hyacinth, appleblossom, carnation, etc. In spite of its deep sweetness, its dry-floral note makes it suitable for cassie, mimosa, violet, carnation and hawthorn (spicy notes), lavender and fougere (sweetness and tenacity), rose, etc. It blends excellently with coumarin  and its derivatives, with cyclamal, linalool, terpineol, anisaldehyde, ylang-ylang,  jasmine bases, ionones and methyionones, etc.,etc.”
