Indian Holi Oud (Triple Co-Distillation)

Adam Michael has this to say “Another custom project to help us continue to try and establish Hermitage as a trader of the highest calibre, no expense spared wild ouds on Earth. In this instance Indian oud chips from Assam, Nagaland and Manipur have been co-distilled using bottled water only.

The profile on skin is classic Indian albeit re-engineered as this is free from any faecal notes whilst still exuding a warm animalic core (clean horse hair) that is enhanced with incense, resinous dark woody and mineral type qualities and of which slowly build in intensity across the first 4 hours. Supporting notes that flitter in and out of detection include honeybush tea, tobacco, aged leathers, castoreum, Fire-Tree resin and trace ppm davana and chocolate qualities. At times this profile also perfectly resembles warming oud chips on a low heat. Likewise smelling from the bottle is an entirely different experience, at least in how it hits you, again the animalic experience is here without being faecal, there are sweet components, medicinal hues, plasticine, resin aspects that really ping and pop, and for me on a ppm level I do again pick out chocolate components of a dark nature – so slightly bitter.

This is top-tier oud that is a pleasure to deep dive within for hours and the feeling of peace and calm this aroma exudes is absolutely next level. Incredibly this was produced in April of this year (2026) and yet you would think this already has substantial year of ageing behind it. I am convinced as the starting point here is so exquisite that this oud will not only age like fine wine over the years and decades.

Please note I find on skin this aroma currently needs about 20 minutes to fire up properly and lasts on my skin in close environment form for approximately 6 hours in optimal form. After the second hour I find the profile is consistent throughout and although the profile settles, its power doesn’t diminish or flat line. Highly recommended and 10 out of 10 on my score cards.”
