Eleonora Scalseggi has this to say “This toffee infused tincture is obtained from the deep-reddish resin of Commiphora tenuipetiolata, a shrub related to the myrrh tree and commonly growing in Southern Africa. Large chunks of the resin are often used as soap or rubbed onto clothes to fragrance them and hence its common name.
Shiny reddish brown in colour like lightly glazed dates, once tinctured this resin displays sticky-sweet and dry fruity facets of dates entwined with sweet toffee and light spices.
It obviously blends very well with other Commiphoras and especially with Opoponax Absolute where it can extend the toffee – light burnt bittersweet caramel notes. It can also be used in oriental, gourmand and leather accords as well as with florals for a spicy-caramel twist. It has a fair fixative power but it needs to be used with restraint due to its stickiness on the skin. Available in very limited quantity.”
Botanical name: Commiphora tenuipetiolata

This is such a unique Myrrh. Very little in the way of bitter and earthy elements when compared to the more common Commiphora Myrrha. Instead this oozes a soft and radiant warmth, filled with gourmand, treacle-like, boozy middle and base notes.

Initially this has a boozyness, with burnt sugar toffee/caramel, vanilla, I’m trying to describe the fruitness – it’s like a tart Montmerency Cherry, candied rind, nougatey, a little dark chocolate, maybe even a touch of mint but is not heavy. It makes me hungry and thirsty for a Pedro Ximénez aged sherry!

Caramel vanilla like alcohol tinture.. little sticky on my skin when applied but very valuable for its use..
