Adam Michael has this to say “20th November 2024, this Myanmar Oud Signature Gold, is plantation material, blood red in colour, of a pourable viscosity and the performance here is full on super-beast-mode. This starts in a similar vein as Cambodian plantation ouds, exuding cresole, wood shavings, animalic tonalities, with the addition of mulled wine, spice and warm fruit character.
After about 50 hours on the strip this is putting out an aroma profile that is resinous woody, again cresole woody, antique woody, hibawood, cedar himalayan, raw non creamy esq sandalwoods – so young offerings with that crude quality – that moves more into an Indonesian Kupang territory, a tad animalic, hay, tobacco, muskrat, even saffron floral.
A little bitter in parts yet in others immensely oud style sweet – think Thai Trat, warm orange, papaya, mangosteens, mangoes, and so on. A wonderful oud to inhale slowly and I say it many times with the plantation ouds I source, but I really think many would never know this isn’t wild. For the connoisseurs this is definitely much-much-much more than an intro level oud, lasting 12 hours on my skin type from a generous swipe, showcasing many layers, beautifully executed throughout and this is a true delight to behold. Compliments to the producer.”

This plantation beauty became for me a humbling lesson for my aromatic snobbery (a by-product of being a professional perfumer and fine-fragrance hedonist):
Since its release quite a while ago, I was reading its description by Adam, stared at its assignation incredulously – ‘Signature Gold’? for a plantation stuff?!’, felt almost scandalized, and snubbed it dismissively: ‘why on earth would some ‘cheap’ plantation Oud get a ‘signature’ and a ‘gold’ marks?!
Finally I’ve bought it as a side ‘snack’ to other, much higher held (and much, much more expensive) wild artisanal Ouds,
– mostly to test Adam’s high praise to it – and to resolve my scepticism.
Well, ladies and gents – for being a plantation material, it is definitely, unequivocally GOLD – and I am humbled, and delightfully surprised!
From the very first whiff the Myanmar S.G. is bright and intense yet instantly pleasing and DELICIOUS – rich yet transparent, almost sparkly!
all the facets are equally complementary to each other, in practically faultless balance –
it opens with sweet-n-sour, effusive, tart, juicy and delectable dry apricots’ compote, spiked with some fortified mediterranean wine/liquor, and glazed with a touch airy freshness;
then nearly instantly it fuses with lovely sweet&savory resin supported by gentle savory woodsy undertones – throughout the entire duration of the scent;
then there are animalic tones – less barnyard and more of a horse hair and just atiny bit of subtle musky sweat – politely humming in the background, contributing to the richness and the volume without overtakinng the attention;
then smooth, fine leather adds itself to the mix – ever so slightly.
There is something so very happy and mood-lightening about this Oud, and in the very approachable, instant feel – in fact, there is no need in deep analysing, its charming and harmonious bouquet is greeting you (me) with an open-arms embrace and a wide smile –
a scrumptious medley perfect for Oud-themed Heart note, indeed practically a vibrant perfume on its own – with overall integrity and aesthetic excellence; and not to be ignored – the grabbing price! So definitely deserving its mark of Virtue and Merit.

Two side oud.
One side is a little bit dirty,
reminiscent of dry tobacco, barn, animalic, later more leathery.
The other side is enjoyable, fresh, sweet, intensely fruity.
Reminds me slightly of Osmanthus Absolute.
Both sides run side by side harmoniously, linear and with a lot of power from the beginning due to the animalic.
Despite the little dirty notes, it can also be enjoyed pure.
