Maltol Natural Isolate

Eleonora Scalseggi has this to say “After smelling and evaluating literally thousands of materials Adam eventually found the one material (so far) he is anosmic to: maltol! Mind boggling if you know how powerful such a material is, and yet so fascinating to know how the world of scent can (or cannot) work.

So, let’s take a step back. What we have is here is pure maltol (>99% purity), offered both in pure (crystals) form and pre-diluted in alcohol at 3.3% (and yes, despite the low percentage, even diluted the scent is still quite strong).

The scent is uncomplicated and loud, caramelised candyfloss, candied strawberries, super sugary sweet and cheerful. If you work with the pure crystals, be prepared to find yourself enveloped in a very persistent cloud of candyfloss (consider wearing some protective clothing!). If you are working with the pre-dilute, you will find this beastly sugary material largely tamed, while its strawberry jam and fruity notes will have become more evident. Regardless, please be aware of its power and use it with restraint, that is, unless you want an all-sugar fragrance.”

Arctander has this to say “Its effect in Pine Needle type fragrances is well known and widely used, and its warm-sweetening effect in rose undertones is also highly appreciated. As a trace component in fruity lipstick fragrances, often with undecanolide, ethylmethylphenylglycidate, ionones, etc. it finds extensive use.”

Sold as a ready-to-use ethanol dilution at 3.3% and also offered neat (in crystals) in a 50G bulk weight.
