Rosemary Essential Oil (TUNISIA)
Adam Michael has this to say “This rosemary essential oil is the Tunisian material and superior and less subject to adulteration than the Spanish material. Superb in massage to soothe tired muscles. Distillation of rosemary essential oil was first described by Arnoldus Villanovus in the thirteenth century. He distilled rosemary and turpentine together. A similar product known as Hungry Water was popular as a perfume and rejuvenator for the next three or four hundred years. Produced by steam distillation of the flowers and leaves, pale yellow in colour and of a pourable viscosity.”
Arctander has this to say “Rosemary Oil is a pale yellow or almost colorless, mobile liquid of strong, fresh, woody-herbaceous, somewhat minty-forest like odor. The “high” fresh notes vanish quickly, yielding to a clean, woody-balsamic bodynote which tones out in a dry-herbaceous, but very pleasant and tenacious, bitter-sweet note. There is considerable difference in the odor of the various types of rosemary oil. The above description is based upon average commercial lots of Tunisian oils and select lots of Spanish oils.”
