21 Year Aged Storax

Adam Michael has this to say “As stated within some of the new releases I have a handful of oddities that I am releasing for sale across May 2026. All limited supply and all really aimed towards the curious perfumers and those that like aromatics with history.

In this instance what I have for sale is 21 YEAR AGED Storax balsam. Back in 2004 when I was 24 years old I purchased Hermitage Oils. A big moment for me and honestly looking back now 21 years later I realise I felt massively out of my depths.

Of course the purchase included stock and I have had this Storax in the same amber glass jar for the last 21 years along with a few other heavily aged aromatic gems that I will also release for sale. However note that the founder had this bottle of storax in his possession for a good time too and as such this material is in the range of 21 years aged minimum to as realistically 25 years aged as of May 2026.

The profile is really yummy, incense Oriental themed, clear refined cinnamic tonalities dominate the early opening, and as time progresses this aromatic exudes liquorice liquor, myrtle liquor, vanillic nuances along with leathery, honey and maple syrupy sweetness. Woody through to trace animalic traits are present in the form of both heavily diluted castoreum and musk rat. As the cinnamic profile lessens and from the heart I feel this aromatic draws comparisons to the profile of the black storax resin we used to trade from Turkey, albeit all components of this balsam being silky smooth throughout.

The viscosity here is thick and gloopy but still mobile although it probably would benefit from bain-marie prior to get it into a more liquid state.

Obtained from the sapwood of Liquidambar orientalis, of good fixative value, and of a warm ambery orange colour. Uses, incense accords, Oriental and gourmand themes, pairs wonderfully with anisaldehyde N.I, cassia, cinnamon, benzoin, jasmine and cistus aromatics. Also useful within mimosa and cassie orientated floral perfumes.”
