Adam Michael has this to say “Aromatically this 3 year aged white oud (writing here on 10th February 2025) better known as gaharu buaya is heavily animalic and leans in the direction of the smells you encounter when walking inside a pet shop. I detect hay stacks, animal foods, animal furs, with lots of smoky woody facets in the form of crude guaiac, a little Siam and oxidised manuka e.o.
The smoky tonalities are dominant in the top and heart, the DNA here is warm, woody, animalic and a touch spicy throughout into dry-down.
Speaking with Eleonora, she isn’t in agreeance with my description. For her this isn’t smoky nor guaiac like. Instead for her this profile is green woody and leans into the territory of a low-end intro Papuan oud.
As the name white oud is so embedded now online I’m leaving it alone, but in my opinion and for the record – white oud isn’t a standalone substitute for real oud. Not now, not ever. Not in any lifetime. With that said, I appreciate opinions are subjective and although baffling to me, I recognise many do interpret this as oud.
My thinking here is its best to recognise and appreciate this for what it really is, that being Gaharu Buaya essential oil. And in doing so, this is a very pleasant aromatic that can broaden the perfumers palate greatly. Uses, for example – creating smoky accords, incense bases, bright piercing woody notes, bonfire through to leather compositions. Pairs wonderfully with sandalwoods.
Finally we also offer a 9 year aged white oud for sale. This costs more than the 3 year aged offering however time has done wonders as the profile of the older material is smoother, less brash and more of a woody heart note that can be well utilised within floral compositions, Oriental bases, chocolate themes and sandalwood accords.”

Schoeib (verified owner) –
Musky, earthy, balsamic, woody, slightly animalic. Smelled pure it isn‘t as complex & joyful as real ouds but in a composition I can see it bringing lots of fixative values & amplifying the attributes mentioned above of other ingredients.
