Adam Michael has this to say “As of the 9th June 2021 we now offer angelica root essential oil from a French specialist artisan producer. The aroma profile, development, and longevity makes for a superior experience compared with Hungarian produced material and thus the signature tag.
Angelica root also known as ‘holy spirit root’ is steam distilled from the dried roots of the plant, displays very pleasant soft blooms of peppery musk and root earthy musk qualities, with soft green vegetative undertones. This musk character has a lot in common with smelling ambrette absolute. The beauty of this French produced material is the fact it does not have the harsh through to very raw aspects commonly found within Hungarian material and easy to realise via direct comparison on the strip.”
Arctander has this to say “Angelia Root Oil is very highly esteemed in perfumery and flavour work. Its power is easily underestimated, and it is an art in itself to use this oil correctly, and to adjust the application and concentration according to the inevitable type-variations in the various shipments of oil even from the same producer. The oil blends well with patchouli, opopanax, costus, sage clary, vetiver, oakmoss, coumarin, etc., in heavy chypres, oriental bases, etc., or in special citrus colognes and fougeres.”

This goes really within a blend if one wants to adds some peppery flutter at the top with a musky backbone. But one needs to be careful within. On it’s own after the initial herbaceously sparkly and musky facets tone down, on my skin, I can detect heart and base of clary sage, but with some leafy aspects (crushed).
It blends really well with ambrette seed, mehedi otto, Thai oud (read floral and fruity ouds) and incensy ouds from India, Indonesia and Malaysia, clary sage, any sweet lavender, and resins. As stated above, one needs to be careful about it though.

This smells of delicious and potent mother earth. Herbs, pepper, soil, and very refreshing. I can think of so many uses for this particular angelica root. Definitely grounding, a great base, and can bring balance. A little goes a long way.

If you have ever worked with Parsley root in your kitchen then you know what angelica root smell like. No surprise, since they are related.
Obviously, this is much more concentrated scent. Very-very spicy with strong peppery/minty/citrusy tone. I think it would blend well with dark and heavy scents.

Zesty vivid, noble rich Spice of Earth, an essence that could animate that benign sentient ‘tree shepherd’ from the LOTR. Once the most praized root in European Medicine, Alchemy & Witchcraft it boasts the feel of earthy magic, nourishing the soul and connecting us back to Mother Nature.
Among the most tenacious and impactful base notes out there, Angelica root in this quality is a must ingredient.
