Adam Michael has this to say “This cocoa absolute is dreamy, luxurious, seductive chocolate heaven. The aroma is very straightforward – providing a never ending supply of luxury chocolate notes. To elaborate further, the top note is mouth-watering dark bitter sweet chocolate with a similarity to the taste of eating Cadburys Bournville chocolate. The heart note to my nose contains a juicy kirsch morello cherries nuance that makes me think of my mum’s homemade chocolate cake – always finished with those spectacular tasting cherries.
This dark brown coloured cocoa absolute is of a sticky, gunky consistency, completely oil soluble (not alcohol soluble – goes cloudy) and obtained from the beans – not the powder. We also have a colourless liquid available, easy to work with, alcohol soluble, pleasant aroma profile and very popular. Uses include gourmand based accords, pairing beautifully with chilli, cinnamon, peppermint, vanilla, tonka, orris, fruits and nuts such as hazelnut, pistachios, cherries and blood oranges. A must for creating the perfect chocolate note, imparts exotic dreamy facets within floral bouquets and offers very interesting effects when used within tobacco, hay, leather and wood accords.”

I did not find the strength I expected in this product. And had to use a lot. It smells like sweet chocolate.

Excellent stuff. Is like smelling from a cup of hot chocolate that soothes not only your body but your senses too..so powdery and rich and i almost get a hint of vanilla in it.. yes it is fully alchohol soluble and you can experience a dreamy blend ..i use it with rose, vanilla, oud..and saffron and i create a beautiful oriental perfume that i copy from a famous brand…5 star for sure

As you would expect this rather viscous material has a strong cocoa heart however there are also bitter and earthy components to it also.

If you sniff it blind, you’ll think it’s some milk chocolate drink with lots of chocolate powder. Love the way it partners with jonquille, osmanthus, ylang yland and other flowers with amber/resinous (sweet or not sweet), and leather. Also goes nicely with Cambodian, Vietnamese and Thai ouds, vetiver, patchouli, vanilla, tonka, hot and cold spices.
It’s a pain to make it mix properly. But worth the trouble. Wish it was a bit more potent though.

This absolute sorts out the true chocolate lovers from the amateurs. The dilution in a blend is still difficult to get on point but it does lend itself with it’s unctuous sweetness to some delightful gourmand experiments.
