Adam Michael has this to say ” The aroma profile here is exquisite from start to finish. At 20% this material displays a brilliant representation of the living flower, so warm nutty floral, a little bit foody spiced, with soft velvety aspects. Produced from the flowers and stamen. Superior product when compared with our respected European and North American competition. And our wholesale pricing is now better than many world respected corporates. New photos uploaded were taken by me on one of the terraces here in Italy and also in the North of Italy at Parco Zoo Punta Verde (a few summers ago).”
Joseph Colbourne has this to say “The viscous, molasses-like, reddish-brown absolute of pink lotus absolute is soft, suave and enchanting. It comes as no surprise the lotus has long revered for ages as sacred symbol of enlightenment and devotion—the tenacious scent itself could be described as ‘devotional.’ The soft, yet also intensely verdant top notes are sheer and meditative, with a dry down embodying facets of tonka, lily, and ripe tropical fruits, perhaps star fruit or guava. A few hours in we find honey and precious woods come into the fore; a tropical repose on still waters.
Use pink lotus absolute to create complex, sophisticated florals with oud or sandalwood bases, combine with spices such as pepper to bring out its charismatic qualities, or blend with honey or beeswax to maximize the floral character.”

I need to restock this one in my collection. This is so special, so different, such a delicate flower but such an eclectic scent. An amalgam of spices, flowers and woods, the top notes are peppery, with some floral facets, as it dries down it becomes more sweet honey like with hints of woods, precious woods. Working on a formula based on it and as Adam mentioned, pairs so nicely with Oud, Patchouli, Sandalwood. Try it also with some Cardamom fractions to see the possibilities it gives to a perfumer. Repeating myself, need to restock this in a higher quantity, always afraid of running low on my precious materials 🙂

Now this one just does everything for me – if I could afford it I would buy all the stock that Adam has.

I’ve yet to have been so hypnotized by a floral scent like this Pink Lotus. Every time I give it a whiff, I’m at once perplexed and re-educated on how complex and layered this aroma is. On one hand my mind denies that this is an actual flower, and on the other, it yearns to accept the absolute aromatic range it has the capacity to embody, from deep earthy, spiced minerality, tasty saltiness, balsamic nuances and infinitly inviting fragrant mystery.

If there’s 1 material I never want to be without, pink lotus is at the top of the list, it’s simply a divine treasure to be cherished, both for the smell and for the emotional response it gives. You know its special and in a league of its own at first whiff. I won’t even begin to attempt to describe how it smells as pink lotus is an experience. Goes esp well with the non-barnyard type ouds and I’ve recently had success blending this in a large proportion with 11 other materials including a small amount of mushroom absolute and some patchouli. Its heaven on earth I tell you!

This scent begins with a starchy, syrupy opening that reminds me of Turkish salep. It offers a spicy, gourmand quality that is difficult to render in language. I find this oil moving and evocative but also challenging. I will admit that after several tries, I have not yet learned to blend it synergistically with other botanicals.

The second time I ordered this I was disappointed, perhaps I was expecting more as it was sold as ‘The Rolls Royce of pink lotus absolutes’ so I took advantage of it being on Sale. I found this batch less fruity and more muddy/flat. Perhaps that’s more desirable to some I don’t know.

Odour-wise, this Pink Lotus is extremely adaptable. Pink Lotus is welcome centre stage, smells good as part of the chorus and is pretty waiting in the wings. If the musical theatre analogy is too contrived this, for me, is the take-away: Pink Lotus has character and body with a floral overlay and a mystical je ne sais quoi underlay. Enjoy all the dimensions this oil has to offer.

This absolute has a subtle scent that is difficult to described. There is something very meditative about it. Floral, elegant and with earthen undertones.
