Skip to contentAdam Michael has this to say “Myrrh absolute is rich amber red in colour and of a very thick, almost solid, sticky paste consistency. The aroma is a more intense experience of the steam distilled material. The 10ml retail volume of myrrh absolute is diluted at 50% in ethanol, providing a pourable and easy to use material. The 250G option is pure material of a solid viscosity and bain-marie is required to get the material into a pourable state.
This material exudes a never ending rainbow of sticky warm liquorice, exotic sweetness and oriental spice. This myrrh absolute is not produced straight from the crude via alcohol extraction (resin-absolute) and is instead produced by solvent extracting the resinoid. Blends especially well with benzoin, frankincense’s and opoponax”
Botanical Name: Commiphora myrrha
Origin: Somalian material solvent extracted in France
Wholesale weights (all prices excluding vat): 250G (SOLID) = 150 Euros.

This is a high-quality myrrh absolute. After using it for a while, I found a subtle sweet dried fruitiness within its rich and mellow balsamic texture.
It’s neither bitter nor medical, and it’s not very smoky, but rather profound. An indispensable element in amber floral.

Quality is great in terms of odor, soft well rounded quite typical myrrh. It’s color may be a drawback, but it is also gorgeous and helpful for natural perfumers in coloring. In synthetic perfumery this abs is a bit too weak @10%. An absolute produced straight from crude may bring the desired power. When fixated with Ethylene Brassylate @10% its tenacity on strip can be stretched to 24 hrs however.

Wonderful material. Complex, warm, sweet, with a little nouances of liquirice and with a touch of earthy mushrom in the background. Very very pleasing. A stand alone perfume on it’s own.

I have tried many, this one is the true thing, at last. I was looking for this “matte” effect that myrrh brings, in my opinion. In an amber composition (I mean “classical” amber, not aggressive synthetic ambergris renditions that you can smell in any public transports), myrrh is used to tame other loud notes like styrax (very animalic, close to castoreum) or civet. To me, it has this functional “hush” effect paired with a powdery and mystic note. Intriguing, discreet yet brilliant, myrr is definitely a contradictory beauty.
