Skip to contentAdam Michael has this to say “This rose geranium essential oil is sourced from a Kenyan Tea Plantation and oozes excellence throughout. The opening aroma is a tidal wave of geranium flowers, floral orientated intensity, sparkling champagne, rose water, fruits, with some geranium leafy green notes and powdered rose nuances in the background. To be clear this is indeed a steam distilled essential oil and not a rebuild from the most desired fractions. On that note this profile has no metallic aspects. This rose geranium essential oil provides body to floral bouquets, of course pairs well with rose aromatics, especially absolutes, useful within green note accords, more so those containing violet leaf absolute, plays great with bergamot and pear liquid and can be considered very reliable for natural compositions that require high impact floral top note character.”

I’m very pleased that this exceptionally beautiful geranium oil is not only to my own liking but evidently appeals to others as well, as it seems Adam has already repurchased it several times. When I wrote my first review, I had the very first batch (TPRG001). With my most recent order, I received the third batch, TPRG003, which in terms of harmony and radiance is in no way inferior to the original.
Over the past forty years I’ve smelled countless geranium oils, but only a few have delighted and impressed me as deeply as this Kenyan fragrance jewel, which also performs superbly in aromatherapy and as an addition to cosmetics.

This Kenyan geranium oil is a splendid example of the Bourbon variety. Not only does it boast a strikingly verdant hue, but its aromatic profile also marks it out as a textbook specimen of Bourbon-type geranium—despite, like most oils of this kind, not hailing from the island of Réunion.
The opening is delightfully fruity, sweet and rosy, underpinned ever so gently by green geranium nuances. While I’d never go so far as to claim that a geranium oil could truly mimic the scent of genuine rose oil, this particular specimen evokes fond memories and associations with tea rose perfumes. That said, it remains unmistakably geranium, not rose.
In the base notes, one encounters unusually sugary-sweet accents—almost reminiscent of vanilla—which is quite rare even among Bourbon-types. This lends the oil continued olfactory interest, even in its dry-down phase, something most geranium oils fail to achieve.
When sniffed directly from the bottle, the oil appears rather restrained in its projection. Nevertheless, its scent proves to be impressively intense, especially when used for ambient fragrance.
Compared with the Bourbon geranium oil from MANE, I’d personally favour this Kenyan batch. It presents as rounder, sweeter, more full-bodied, and less green-herbaceous. Moreover, its base is markedly sweeter, making it a truly charming choice.

Very beautiful, almost like the real rose champagne with a bit of effervescent feel. Rich but exquisite.
