IMPORTANT NOTE: I need to add this aromatic has been re-introduced today (18th October 2024) and that the four reviews you will read refer to the vanilla oleoresin we sold maybe 4 or 5 years ago – when it was of a much thicker, almost absolute type consistency, and also very dark in colour. What I am now offering is vanilla oleoresin that is pourable, of a thin to water like consistency and dark yellow-brown in colour. This is also reflected in the price. Thank you, Adam : )
Adam Michael has this to say “Applied on the scent strip, the opening minutes of Vanilla Oleoresin provide an intense dreamy vanillin-plasticine experience reminiscent of smelling Tahitian Vanilla Tincture along with the more classic notes of Vanilla planifolia. The body, albeit not as powerful and full-bodied, is comparable to vanilla absolute, exuding woody, floral and vanilla tonalities throughout. The dry down of vanilla oleoresin is more of the same with some toasted nutty nuances and oakwood barrel qualities and overall this is very true to smelling vanilla beans. Also far more cost effective compared to the absolute and much easier to use due to its very mobile consistency. Longevity on the strip stands at about 2 hours and as for uses, great within gourmand accords, Oriental bases, Rose accords, useful for building amber bases, vanilla bases (of course), improving honey notes, and generally works well for imparting sweetness and rounding out harsh notes within a composition.”

I am still in search of the perfect vanilla.
Out of some varieties of vanilla I tried (tinctures, infusions of different strength and oleoresins) this one was very close to be the perfect for me. Ambery, spicy-dry, sweet and round, without any excessive artificial sweetness, and just right in pourability.
Yes it does not last too long. But it is so natural – the beauty of natural materials is in their ability to change. Pronounced vanilla spicy sweetness gives way to a number of facets of this material – a bit powdery in some time, with gentle nuances of cognac, this vanilla oleoresin works best for me in jojoba based natural perfume, as oil seems to keep the scent longer.
I tried it in black honey sacra infused jojoba oil – what a magic pair…

This is the most natural vanilla I have found and it’s the perfect material for my natural perfume blends. It’s so rich, sweet and aromatic, it really makes me wanna drink it all with some cocoa nibs and why not some cinnamon and a pinch of chilli.

Is it strange that I enjoy this oleoresin more than the absolute or any other synthetic chemicals? A true exquisite material, I feel is more refined than the absolute and also easy to work with because it doesn’t dominate, instead it gives that nice soft vanilla touch, exotic, ambery and sweet. Too bad is so hard to find these days!

My favorite type of vanilla scent. Different to the SCO2 extract of vanilla I also have. The former is faintly vanillin sweet and milky. The latter is a more a powerful, earthy and bitter scented vanilla. Considering the price of vanilla absolute or SCO2 extract, you are getting a beautiful vanilla scented oleoresin for a fraction of the price.

Mmmh…
Like a delicious cross between a bright floral Tahitian vanilla and the darker, stronger Bourbon vanilla. Could be a new favorite.
The first image in my mind is a milk porridge with wheat biscuit flavor for babies.
Hmmm…Now I’m hungry…
