August 15th: Today in Italy is Ferragosto, an important public holiday. As such couriers are not working. This means we will be sending parcels from Tuesday. We are absolutely stuffed with orders to assemble, as such lead-times are as follows, E.U 7 to 10 days. Non-EU 14 to 17 days. ADDITIONS: Before placing your order, please check very carefully. As having to re-edit existing orders greatly adds to our processing times and is making the queue of orders move slower and slower for everybody. I thank you for understanding. Adam : )
August 11th: Quick note to say I have now added the Wild Cedarwood Absolute to the website. This is the final new release for 2022 prior to closing across September for 5 months. I need to state for those paying via bank transfer, politely your order is not secured until we have received payment in full. If you are considering buying Mysore Sandalwood, please keep in mind we now have very low stocks left and its likely this will sell out by the end of this week. Ambrette Absolute is now also running low and so are most of our frankincense aromatics along with Prachin Oud. As for lead times, non E.U orders are now taking up to 14 days to assemble and dispatch. Orders sent within the E.U are taking roughly a week before they are assembled and dispatched. 2022 season Organic Lemon FCF E.O is now reduced in price as we have a lot to clear prior to closing. For those within the E.U who may be interested in 5 and 10 kilo pack weights, please get in touch on email. I will write again by Sunday. Thank you, Adam
July 27th: Adam Michael here with an update. Ok, my partner Eleonora is pregnant with our first child. Written because across September Eleonora goes on maternity leave for 5 months and I intend to join her and use the opportunity to have a rest before the baby is born. The exact date will be confirmed nearer the time but for now just to say if you need anything from Hermitage Oils to please plan ahead because when we close it really will be for 5 months and during that time we will be completely out of contact. Thank you, Adam : )

Eleonora Scalseggi has this to say “We are very excited to introduce this new Zanthoxylum CO2 extract which aromatically is a far better proposition when compared with the essential oil. Bursting with citrussy and fruity notes as soon as you uncap the bottle, this is a fun and vibrant material, and not in a childish manner either. The fruity character is well balanced with the bitter aromatic dark citrus peel essence, in fact imagine drinking Italian chinotto, thirst quenching, bitter-sweet and with that gorgeous “dark” citrus peel note throughout. In the background of the citrus notes, a classic zanthoxylum melody completes the picture with its sweet, waxy, lychee and delightfully bright Far East fruit aroma.
This Zanthoxylum CO2 extract is a top note that unfortunately cannot boast a long duration on skin and yet it makes a brilliant head note injecting fun, juiciness – minus the annoying cloyingness of some juicy smelling aroma chemicals – and a wonderful bittersweet tartness. Alcohol soluble but only partially oil soluble.”

It’s unbelievable how essential oil and CO2 are different from one another. While the EO begins with an almost offensive (apple vinegar-citrus mix) but charmingly peppered acidity and this one starts with a full-blown-in-your-face slight bergamot-like citrus zest-ness with delicate sour lemon undernotes. It’s quite possible to get lost in all the exotic fruit nuances captured in the bottle of this material. For a brief moment there was even an apricot passing by. When the EO starts to mellow down to its calming embrace of waxy berried, but still a bit acidic middle, the CO2 still punches hard with its zestines that now heads more in the direction of a luscious blood orange. I was hooked when I read the description of the EO, I confess. Now I am glad that I have them both. It’s interesting to compare, they are like two siblings of opposite characters.

This is a very special fragrance. There is a lot of citrus smell in it, but also a trace of an oily scent. Furthermore it reminds of the smell of a Sitca fir.

A seriously under-appreciated scent. Zanthoxylum CO2 reminds me of orange-peel marmalade and Korean Citron tea. It has a sour quality at first that makes you think this would not play nice with other oils, but it can add richness to lemon, lime, orange blossom, and ginger. It adds an edge to other gourmands as well, especially vanilla and cacao.
