Adam Michael has this to say “The genet absolute signature gold offered by Hermitage Oils (also known as broom absolute) is produced by a top artisan from fresh flowers here in Italy. As of July 30th 2025 our price to quality ratio is also now unbeatable. This is a superior profile to every single corporate sourced offering. In fact this is so good that a massive multi-billion dollar aromatics conglomerate is wanting to switch over to the very artisan we work with, yes really, and understandable. This is also 2025 season absolute.
As many know, I live in the countryside of Tuscany and am surrounded by fields of genets. When walking past them in the summer afternoon the air is saturated with the aroma of genet. Mentioned because it never compares with smelling the absolute neat. The reason being because genet absolute is so heavily concentrated, and you will find more resemblance by heavily diluting the absolute.
Aromatically this is the best genet absolute we have encountered so far, sweet and intensely fragrant, like the best millefleur honey and literally oozing the aroma of an outstanding golden nectar-drenched homemade plum jam. It then unfolds, displaying soft agrestic notes of a freshly mown hay in early summer, joyous softly sweet coumarin notes and a touch of blond tobacco.
This material is of a liquid jam pourable consistency (please don’t eat this!) and very easy to use and handle. It is alcohol soluble but will require some resting time after diluting it in order to enable the residual waxes micro-particles (particularly hard to get rid of in the case of genet) to precipitate at the bottom of the beaker, leaving you with a perfectly clear solution. Only partially soluble in oil.
As for uses, aside from obvious new mown hay, tobacco and floral compositions, its fulsome golden aroma can lend invaluable naturalness to a blend, helping to round off sharp edges and/or harsh chemical notes”.
Arctander has this to say “Broom absolute is a dark brown, semi-solid or viscous liquid, with an intensely sweet, floral-haylike fragrance. The deep herbaceous-coumarinic background has great tenacity. The honey-rose notes are particularly useful in certain types of rose bases, tuberose, cassie, mimosa, violet, honeysuckle, etc. It blends excellently with ionones, vetiver, castoreum, etc. in “tabac” notes, and it is generally useful in modern aldehydic perfume types, green notes, etc.”

Wow this Genet is better than the previous offered in the store as i found it more fruity and mouth watering more fresh and vibrant..the previous batch was more hay / dry coumarin and iris 1% irones but this is a superior quality..its sweet and full of summer rays blended with rich fruits and lots of water freshness qualities i feel..excellent stuff!!

This is a very special and unique oil that finds its way to snugly fill in the gaps of a composition. I sense elements of boronia abs, but without the raspberry – they both have that sweet honeyed rose character – and can see what Adam means about the dark fruity element that you’d perhaps find in a Tunisian orange blossom abs. The herbal, hay-like aroma lying underneath might even smell more like hay than hay absolute (!) which naturally makes them a good pairing, along with other coumarin rich materials. It does indeed blend well with the notes mentioned by Arctander in the main piece, and also sits nicely with beeswax, opoponax and jasmine grandiflorum.

For me smelling this Genet absolute is like walking in a countryside from late spring till e the end of summer – warm earth heated by the sun, honey, hey, medicinal herbs such as cornflowers, blue camomiles, dried herbs and fruits – just flowery meadow to breath in every day 🙂 – just so much i love it.
Soft and mild but tenacious and persistent – uplifting and calming at the same moment.
It is used in aromatherapy as anti-arrhythmic and for cardio tonic, diuretic, hypertensive and narcotic treatment, as well as for treating pain, stress, mental fatigue and depression – all of the information that you can find on line.
In my humble opinion it’s a must have for beautiful floral creations.
