Cedarwood Chinese E.O
Adam Michael has this to say “Aromatically the profile of Chinese cedarwood essential oil is dry woody, powdery through to dusty woody, masculine, trace cumin spiced, bitter, astringent with a fantasy amber warmth and drawing many comparisons with smelling Virginian cedar albeit less potent on the pencil shavings front. Id add I detect a Parma-Violet powdery sweetness (I’m alone apparently on this) and as such this material reminds me a little of iso e super crossed with norlimbanol – the latter due to the very dry woody nuances.
As most will be quick to point out, what we have here botanically is a species of cypress. Yellow to deep yellow in colour, pourable and produced by steam distilling the chippings from the tree.
And I repeat what I wrote years ago about an aged offering of Chinese cedarwood essential oil that we used to offer – this material is useful for building wood notes, spicy accords, woody-oriental accords, animalic bases, pairs well with cedarwood oils, sandalwood and compliments the woody back notes contained within patchouli materials.”
