Starting on 10th July 2025 and concluding on the evening of 25th December, Hermitage Oils will release 5 rose ottos from the Middle East, some of which are vintage pieces and all of which showcase why the Middle Eastern countries rule supreme for the greatest Damascena rose otto productions on Earth. And each time a new rose otto within this quintet is released, it will be available at introductory prices for the first week of sale. And everything within this collection has been produced by rose artisans.
Adam Michael has this to say “The first release to kick start this collection is called the Lychee Prince. For me, this batch of 2025 Persian damascena otto has a story attached to it with profound personal meaning and as such this had to headline my new collection. You see the Iranian producer behind this aromatic has been displaced due to the ongoing conflicts of late. Yet he was so determined to put this rose into my hands, that he took himself and this batch of rose across into Turkey – in order to personally make sure the delivery could happen. I have known this specific producer for going on a decade now. He is one of those craftsmen who always delivers excellency. He does nothing else, he is laser focused on rose and rose alone. For me, and for the big artisanal oud names trying to acquire his services, he is a true master of rose otto productions.
So with such a glowing endorsement how does this smell ?
This 2025 Persian otto showcases a powerhouse of sultry red and pink rose themes in the top with specific velvety rose petal sensations and an overdose of fruity juicy-refreshing lychee tonalities. Supporting notes include fridge fresh bergamot, lemonade and a touch of lime and green mandarin. The heart is full bloom top tier juicy dewy brain-tingling, late morning erotic red rose sensations. The heart is simply wave after wave of incredibly voluptuous, enchanting, delicious and soothing rose tonalities. The heart also has lots of hydrolat vibes in play with some really deep intense thick yummy honey qualities flittering in and out of detection.
The base note has a slight metallic hue I associate with Chinese geranium aromatics along with rose powdery, raspberry, rose leaf and rose stem nuances.
First distillation, green in colour, and performs well within floral, fruity, citrus, herbaceous, woody, spicy, green and even animalic themed compositions. Pairs especially well with geranium, orange blossom, sandalwoods, ouds and jasmine aromatics.
Note: You will find rose otto aromatics crystallize at between 5-8 ºC. Rest assured there is nothing wrong and it is quite beautiful visually. All you need to do is give your bottle a shake (with cap on) and it will become pourable again. Like most rose essential oils, The Lychee Prince naturally contains stearoptene, thus when diluted in alcohol filtration will be needed in order to discard the alcohol-insoluble petal waxes. Conversely, solubility in fixed oils is perfect for this essential oil, making it a choice material for high-end attars.”

For me, Persian Rose is superior to Taif Rose, and I’ve had a fair share of smelling and owning Persian Rose. This one reminds me of one that I once had from a Saudi friend, it was called Kashani Rose.
Dewy, juicy, nectar and sweet with a lemon and blood orange accord, honey nuances and lychee. I thought I’d never get something like Khashani but I have. Even the color is the same. 100/100 for me.

Jake, I need to know what variety of tomatoes these are !!!!! We grow tomatoes here in Tuscany and would be delighted to find tomatoes that smelled like this! Please share this information!!!!! To anyone smelling, whilst smell is subjective, I can confirm to our evaluation that this does not smell of tomatoes to my nose or that of my staff. This rose otto is a proper juicy rosy nectar fest with a plethora of fruity lychee tonalities in play. This is on par at the very very least with the little Taif that finds its way outside of Saudi Arabia each year and that will set you back several hundred euros per tola. Thank you, Adam Michael : )

Brutally Honest, it reminded me a lot of Tomato Sauce from Chef Boyardee cans straight from the bottle lol! It may also be in part to the metallic aspect that canned tomato sauce has, but thats not all this is about!
It is very beautiful, Top notes of Citrus meets jungle fruit. Juicy Bergamot and Green Mandarin candy meets Tomato Leaf. I can see this being used in Fantasy Jungle, Garden of Tranquility, Very Happy Warm compositions basically with needed humidity like Gardenias.
Would not pass on the opportunity for this stuff!

In one word – Spectacular!
In more words – firstly, it is intense, exceptionally intense, and replete with multi-faceted Rosy Wealth- in perfect balance! –
here every characteristic note for a Persian Otto is dazzling-bright, crystal-ringing, theatrically voluminous, royally generous, artfully stylish, iconic even, simultaneously pristine and haunting!
There was here at Hermitage a while ago another very beautiful Persian Otto – ‘P.E.A. Intense’, which I praised for its clarity, power and ‘Fellini’s cynematic’ resolution – well, This one then is even more – it is Beethoven’s Symphonic: it is so vibrant, so harmoniously full, rich yet ethereal, clarion-fresh yet juicy and plush, emblematic in the character of ‘the Queen of flowers’ –
a scintillating classical Beauty, that delights you with both – its effervescent, natural fidelity as well as with soulful, silky-sensuous charms.
I personally would not associate the glorious scent of this artisanal Otto with lychee or any fruit for that matter, for I percieve it as a quintessential Flower at the moment of its exuberant awakening – an opening bud bursting with Life, sanguine Youth and spell-binding Beauty, evolving from verdant tangy top to carnal musky drydown, elegantly together throughout.
Diving into the evoked aesthetic imagery, this could be the Rose in the hand of Laura Richie – That Ultimate Girl in the Patrick Suskind’s novel ‘Perfume’ – the Embodiment of Love itself.

Oh. My. God. Just got it & already thinking about getting more. I‘ve been looking for this exact rose profile for ages, as I‘ve smelt it in only 3 high-class artisanal perfumes within hundreds so far :
It‘s that unmistakeable juicy lychee profile balanced out by ethereal citrus brightness & light Otto muskiness (creamy, velvety & soft musk, Otto lovers just know what I‘m talking about). It‘s the juicier brother of the Persian Galugah Otto, which is more heavy on the ethereal citrus tonalities. I can‘t miss both in my collection though, they‘re like Ying & Yang. No sweet jam, no rosewatery powderiness, not overly fruity, just the most soothing, mind-numbing & well balanced “please don’t leave my skin“ rose Otto notes, exactly how rose should be for me. Bright & sensual at the same time.
These Damascena Ottos from the middle east Hermitage keeps offering continue to amaze me, cream of the crop, 10/10 rose material, doesn‘t get better than this.
Thank you so much, best birthday present for myself. Will make an insane yuzu-rose-oud-musk around this to feel like the real lychee prince 🤗🌹
