Oud Wild Hindi Royal (5 YEAR AGED)

Adam Michael has this to say “This is a full on FIVE YEAR AGED barn-heavy, old school Assam North Indian produced Oud. The opening aroma profile of my third Assami oud, exudes the smell of horse-hair, aged old smooth leathers, antique woods, freshly dug soil, decaying tree bark, aged fossilized hyraceum and cresol. On the strip this profile remains in optimal form for over 100 hours with little to zero change.

Within the barn notes – you have deer musk, wool musk, tobacco leaves and flowers, lots of dried hay stack nuances and something trace spiced.

On and off I have traded oud now for just over 12 years at the time of writing (12.08.24) and have come to realise that here in the West, the majority do not appreciate this style of oud in standalone form – of which is totally understandable. However if you do understand this style of oud, if this is your go to profile, if you are aware of the advantages this style of oud provides to perfumery, then this will be pure love from start to finish. The mechanics of this oud profile provide depth, mega projection, and vastly improved longevity to all perfume compositions – and dosed properly, you can achieve all of these benefits without this oud overwhelming your creations.

This for example blended with basenote heavy sandalwoods (so chiefly e.o’s) , can morph almost top-free sandalwoods into a stunningly gorgeous top-heavy antique style smelling woody profiles from the word go – bringing forward – and expanding – all of the buttery-creamy-milky sequences found within the sandalwood too. And performances of such sandalwoods on skin are in turn vastly improved as well, hitting upwards of 15 hours from a generous swipe. This also works wonders with indolic heavy jasmines and ylangs and again dosed correctly – and with experimentation – you wont even know that its this very oud that is super charging your composition 100-X. And for the record, its this very style of oud that’s giving your creations the natural monster projections and super longevity times – not the super clean ouds.

To finish, ageing has done wonders here as the aroma transitions through all the gears so smoothly and the dry down on strip after nearly 200 hours showcases trace tonalities of tobacco flowers, carnation and clove. Highly recommend.”
