Vanuatu Sandalwood Mushroom E.O
Adam Michael has this to say “This is by far THE quirkiest batch of steam distilled Vanuatu sandalwood I have ever encountered (24/04/26). In a great way. You see the opening here is classic sandalwood DNA complemented with field-mushrooms and a forest floor profile. This is all supported with strong buttery tonalities of which result in a very delicious smelling rich indulgent foody-gourmand opening. Prized constituents: 46.7% of Alpha Santalol and 16.8% of Beta Santalol.
Everything here is extremely smooth, with sandal-nutty, pencil shavings, earth, moss and wood bark qualities all leading us into the early heart. All notes being heavily dosed in rich turbo charged sandal esq buttery goodness.
Once we are properly into the heart within two to three hours, the classic Vanuatu sandalwood comes through coupled with a brief citrus character that is reminiscent of the orange pastel smell you encounter when smelling black sacra resin. And once here the profile opens up even more delivering this big combo of floral bouquet freshness coupled with Green North Indian wild vetiver traits. Yes, I am writing about sandalwood! and yes this is truly the strangest and off the wall sandalwood I have encountered to date.
Deeper into the heart and you are left questioning yourself because all of those Alice in Wonderland type of trippy experiences mostly vanish and it’s just you and a characteristic Vanuatu woody nutty buttery sandalwood with traces of field mushrooms. Deep dry down is woody, nutty, soft and slightly sweet. Rich yellow in colour subject to volume/weight, 36 hours on strip in optimal form with 5 hours of optimal wear on my skin type from a generous swipe.
I’m not sure I have ever described sandalwood as making me hungry but that’s how I have felt whilst evaluating this sandalwood! Uses, provides good diffusion and substantivity as you would expect, a must within high society gourmand accords, Oriental bases, forest floor accords, pairs wonderful with our Porcini Mushroom absolute, 3-Octanol N.I, Ionone Beta N.I, and Bulgarian and Chinese Rose absolutes.”
