Update 12th May at 9.55pm: First, our order book. The majority of orders placed between the 5th to 7th May have been collected by the couriers, more will be collected tomorrow, and the rest will be collected by the couriers on May 16th. Many easy/quick to assemble orders placed after the 7th have also been collected by the couriers. We are working through the weekend, and I will update again here on Monday concerning lead-times. I am very sorry about the delays and also for the time it is taking me to reply to emails at the moment. Next, good news on the horizon. By mid-late June I will release a 30 year aged labdanum, Persian cypress e.o, Persian neroli e.o, two Nagaland ouds, one jungle- plantation, the other wild, plus cedarmoss absolute, oakmoss absolute – one of my original sources, melonal n.i, guaiacol n.i, my own commissioned saffron oleo resin red gold, olive absolute (possibly two offerings), another flawless Persian rose otto, sandalwood India Royal - a 1930’s vintage Mysore, plus another intro-level oud from Thailand, a two year aged green sacra tincture, a flawless Indonesian sandalwood CO2 that I have been wearing on my forearms every day this week (heavenly and affordable), plus protium copal resin, elemi resin, a full spectrum green coloured royal hojari resin and I am musing on releasing a trial experiment of stock flower extrait by enfleurage – musing because it’s so fleeting. And finally, for the month of May I have released oud wild Assam e.o, oud Thai fruity-spice e.o (intro level oud), Italian 4-fold lemon super concentrate e.o, oud Chanthaburi honey e.o, orris Tuscan absolute 50% (8% Irones) , oud wild tabak e.o (our first quarter of a million euros per kilo aromatic) plus our 20-month aged grey ambergris 3% tincture and our stunning Indian sandalwood sweetie CO2. Thank you to everyone for the support of our business and as always, if its possible, please do leave product reviews on the website. Thanks, Adam : ) Close

This blackcurrant bud absolute is supplied to us directly by a world famous naturals producer in Grasse.
Adam Michael has this to say “Blackcurrant bud absolute is obtained from the buds of the plant, and this material comes from the Burgundy region of France. Harvest time is from December through to early February. Blackcurrant absolute is of a thick treacle viscosity and dark green in colour. In dilution I detect a spiced fruit cocktail with a hint of sugar sweetness, a lot of green character throughout and a rainbow of floral wonderment. I also clearly detect a strained, slightly acidic and somewhat cleansing green tea note from the middle stages onwards. If you are familiar with Blackcurrant bud Absolute you’ll know how challenging this material can be to get into a pourable state. For this reason we now offer it diluted at 50% in ethanol.”
Arctander has this to say “The absolute is a viscous liquid of dark green color and powerful spicy-wood odor. There is a slightly phenolic undertone and the tenacity is not outstanding. Quantitatively, the main constituents are monoterpenes and sesquiterpenes. These are not responsible for the characteristic odour of the absolute.”
Botanical name: Ribes nigrum
Origin: France

Green is the color here. It reminds of the green leaf of the vine plant but for me is more of a more “urinal” raw green to herbaceous quite similar to urtica plant. In fact I find much similarities to the dried Melissa herb used in boiled water. It’s an almost urinal twist of a herb note. Overall its character is more close to a fresh-herbaceous note rather than green. As with most absolutes, this product captures quite well the full plant odor of the blackcurrant. A difficult but very interesting material in green compositions.

Pretty pungent and strong to my nose, not really a fan of black currant even in drink form but this material is needed for some of my formulas.

Hands down one of my top five absolutes. Feeling fortunate that Hermitage carries this since I could not live without it ,and by acquiring the pre-diluted ab, it takes the hard work out of making the material ready for use in solid perfume (at 10% dilution) where I like to blend it with raw beeswax. I am a great fan of the fruit as well but the ab has less of a fruity and more of a leafy quality. It’s definitely a “green” note and yet blends well with just about anything, unlike the more typical “greens”. There are, of course, the ammonia notes that need to be tamed but that can be achieved simply by diluting it further. I find that this absolute works best blended with wax or butters.

This is veeeeery powerful … opens with an animal tone like urine of some feline, it is really strong and almost sulphurous in the good sense (the complex and beautiful nature) when it dilutes it shows its true face: like guava, has fresh tones and acids. This brings natural fruit tints to any fragrance.
