Adam Michael has this to say “Also known as rosewood, Bois de Rose essential oil is produced by steam distilling the wood chippings from the Indian Aniba rosaeodora tree and is water white in colour and of a pourable viscosity.
Aromatically speaking the key component of bois de rose essential oil is linalool which accounts for 74% of this material. This Indian material whilst slightly more subdued in its opening notes is still incredibly fresh smelling, cleansing, light watery floral breezy, with gorgeous woody and light spice nuances throughout. Whilst the Brazilian material we used to offer had more spectacular opening notes, this Indian material has more staying power in my opinion and more useful for top note and heart note modifications compared with the Brazilian material which I chiefly regarded as a top note enhancer.
Imparts freshness and sparkling character to floral, lavender, woody and citrus accords, useful for brightening up herbaceous bouquets and blends especially well with most petitgrain materials.”
Botanical Name: Aniba rosaeodora

Yes, Adam, you are right : a sparkling opening note at the crossroad between lavender, petit grain and, in a minor proportion, bergamot. I reviewed the “linalool laevo” natural isolate before, this one is richer and even more potent. It brings an exquisite natural touch to the herbal spicy heart I am currently working on.

This is gorgeous, a fantastic combination of a delicate petitgrain/citrus/neroli, star anise/delicate fennel, high altitude lavender, and I think a V anilla / Tonka Pemou or minty Palo Santo, with floral rosey green petals!

A woody, warm and waxy floral, …terpenic, a potent meeting of sweetly-souring wilting roses, held on a warm and woody base of pink peppercorns and coriander seed.
There’s a champagne-like top note of rose and lime, palo santo, petitgrain and lavender.
The linger is a softer form of all this..a woody sour warm floral, also having a touch of metallic on my skin, and at the end becoming a marrying of lavender and tonka bean.

Super. Woody and fresh in the same time. No sweetness as in all other woody oils. Goes perfect with citrusy and fresh aromas. Ideal for dry, mature skin.

This Bois de Rose is wonderful! I have rosewood leaf and do like it, however, this is much more useful when the goal is to provide a subtle but effective lift to a perfume composition. I will definitely be buying more of this soon!

This high quality oil is both uplifting and very calming.
As usual, others before me have provided far better descriptions than I could ever muster! This has a delicate floral top note, which I find difficult to believe comes from wood chippings.

Lovely woody, rosy green!

The most uplifting oils from the woods. Spark of freshness with woody accords and pinch of smoke. Good material for cosmetic use.

This is a great sustainable alternative to the Brazilian stuff, I think I even like it a lot more! It’s fresh and doesn’t have sour edges as rosewood sometimes does

A splendid rose wood oil. I can confirm previous reviews of this material. Here is my two cents. It was important for me to smell it on the strip. Smelling it from the bottle sometimes works to get a good first impression of the material but with this oil I had to get “closer” to it in order to appreciate its many facets. It has the fresh and green notes described above but also a floral dimension that unfolds as the scent progresses. It is not an overpowering scent or material (in my super limited experience) and can be added to give depth to almost any concoction.
