Adam Michael has this to say “Vetiver is without doubt one of my personal favourite naturals and of which is a staple component for the few perfumes I make for my own personal use. This Chinese vetiver essential oil has sincerely surprised me, it gives so much and it does it for so long and so very well. The aroma is wet earthy, baked roots, with a deep rich woody soul and a slight grassy tang. The complexities of this aroma also reveal distinctive spicy elements of both chilli seeds and cumin with fleeting nutty and vegetative qualities throughout. I can’t help wonder if the well-loved Haiti and Java offerings are now a little over rated.
As for uses, Chinese vetiver essential oil is a must have material for building and improving vetiver accords, developing wood, leather, tobacco and spice notes and is especially good at taking the composition in a far flung oriental direction.”
We have now created our own vetiver collection page.

I was very interested in the description of this essential oil, since it’s hard enough to find the right scents to create leather and tobacco accords. I was surprised and delighted with the aroma of this vetiver.
The distinct notes of leather, tobacco, smoke, baked wood – exactly what I was looking for!
A real find for men’s oriental perfumes. And also for special meditative blends where powerful grounding is required.

I own several Vetiver oils and I find Adam’s description on this one to be perfect.
Im surprised by the lack of feedback so far on this one as its really quite a superb material. I get slightly spiced, woody, vegetal roots. It gives you many different paths in building up into your own vetiver accord or simply use on its own, it has more than enough character to stand out.

A rather smooth and calming oil. Very resinous, amber in color and thick that surprisingly it project the wet earthy rhizomes of the vetiver beautifully..a total soft leathery accord or rather a suede accord with some sweet notes that is truly calming and relaxing for the mind and spirit..excellent !!

This vetiver is the best in my collection. I probably have 15 different types from almost all regions. Many are outstanding artisan distillations. This vetiver is very special. It is the only one that clearly has a spicy element. The whole cycle is very dynamic, similar to a nice agarwood. Nice work!

Such an incredible honey blonde tobacco smell to me. There’s also a top note in here that smells to me like love-bugs in spring. A very grassy earth smell that’s just been drenched in sweet sunshine. This one is definitely a powerhouse that stays on the skin a while. I’m loving it with classic citrus notes but can’t wait to experiment more with it. Absolutely lovely <3 Thanks Hermitage for delighting my senses once again 🙂
