Imagine raw sprigs of lavender rubbed on the palms of your hands; that coumarinic, herbal rawness that is the ‘living’ experience of lavender. That’s what makes lavender absolute undeniably indispensable to the perfumer. It creates a full-bodied exalting lavender note, builds a more ‘complete’ fougere with its depth, and serves as a seamless modifier for woods and florals. As an absolute it has good longevity, lasting twelve hours on the tester. Furthermore it is recommended that one do not underestimate its power as using too much may weigh down a blend, muddying the overall composition. Be sure to use judiciously.”

Lavender Bulgaria is by far my favourite lavender of all, with no sharp medicinal unpleasantries to deal with it fits into natural perfumery seemlessly. The other varieties of lavender and their essential oils have their place for sure but I’d say the absolute is superior to the essential oil in that it feels almost as if its double concentrated, longer lasting and even more full bodied. Try this in the oil burner with cinnamon (2:1 lavender/cinnamon) for a cozy and clean feel good pick me up.

Completely different from French lavender absolute, but I can’t imagine one without the other. The different nuances are so beautifully different that I can’t imagine using only one. Is like the right and left hand..:). Charming and magical.

I love this material. I have never particularly enjoyed working with Lavender EO because of its predictability and lack of depth. This material changes everything, here we have a Lavender that is spicy, leafy, even cremy, while staying fresh and uplifting. The performance of this absolute simply cannot be compared to any EO, it is a more balanced and versatile Lavender that also lasts longer. If you have not found the “right” Lavender, this might be the one.
