Adam Michael has this to say “The opening of this Oud Assam is cresole, varnish, dark woody, somehow soft but also powerful and non-offensive animalic. As this aromatic develops and softens coffee, dark bitter chocolate, woody resin, spice, aged tobacco and peppery tonalities emerge. This oud is a complete beast on the performance front, in fact I start to think generally Hindi ouds are not only the most beautiful of all, but also the most naturally longlasting due to the animalic backbones which seem to always be castoreum and hyraceum themed, regardless if the overall composition is deemed clean or skanky. Without digressing too much, social conformity often drives people to register such a profile as gross, like that of many animalics including civet. My point, however, is that they are not gross smells at all, in the same way many so-called weeds can really add character, charm and beauty to a garden. Simply I am genuinely in love with this aromatic, overwhelmed honestly, this oud only has a handful of strings yet it plays the most spiritually bliss inducing symphony for nearly twelve hours on my skin and over a week and counting on the strip.
The dry down of oud Assam is full of castoreum, hyraceum and tobacco effects with floral DNA plumes, clay bricks heated by the sunshine and heavy aged leather. One year aged, wood used estimated at 50 years old, 5 year resination time, 30 day soak, 10 day distillation in a steel pot.
The only other aromatic that can penetrate deep into my brain like this is sandalwood, something I have realised only properly across the past few years. I know it’s easier to scoff at something we don’t understand, to ridicule, to make jokes, but sincerely if you want a journey of illumination from within, an aromatic that can override you, then like me, I encourage you to try hindi oud, from me, or from others, but to just try and live the experience for yourself as it is indeed an experience to behold and cherish.”

Classic assam dna beauty of a superior quality. Rounded, smooth and warm with an powerful Animalic core revealing the classic hindi character without being overpowering and offensive even to people that are not oud lovers. Dark, deep, heavy handed with the most divine warmth of castoreum infused in waves of
purple plums , spices like ginger and hot cardamom with a heavy dose of sweet tobacco and deer musk that makes it
super sexy and full of masculinity..Above all these notes, imagine echoes of dark chocolate drying to dance together with
rather smooth barn nuances that here are done perfectly…hay, dark leather and i do get deep thick sweet honey still in comb somewhere in the wild jungle that all of them promotes such a powerful energy that puzzles the senses which i found unexplained. That’s why assam ouds are top tier holy Grail of hindi oils. It is powerful long lasting and robust and when you have tried this you will never go back to another oud oil.

If I’d live in another time and be a knight and had a pure-bred magnificent steed – as a vital companion animal – above all to behold its intense heart-warming natural beauty in all the raw power, and join it in the saddle for a ride of joy on forest paths, that well-groomed horse would be smelling just like this Assami Oud:
powerful, alluring, beastly and yet noble, captivating in its graceful stride – from the smooth-barnyard opening – to leather and then (surprising) spicy touches (for me akin of Allspice) and woodsy-resinous whiffs through the heart to dry down.
Just like a gorgeous horse, all it needs to become a celebrated ingredient in the perfume, is a touch of decorating accents – only to extoll its beauty – bridles and trappings of florals (today for me it’s Orange blossom and Frangipani), some earthy companions under its ‘hoooves’ like Orris root abd Vetiver, and some feathers for frivolous thrills on top – leafy greens and citrus of your choice. It can be a central mood of an animalic wonder, or it can be a hidden engine in a refined ‘virile’ tenacious composition, or a nuance ‘for intrigue’ in the less obvious fragrance – it will greatly underpin an exciting sensuality and bodily vividity in any perfume worthy of such classy ingredient.
