Adam Michael has this to say “The smell of Virginian tobacco absolute is very mature, very dry, reminds me of smelling old rope, the middle contains fleeting notes of dark chocolate cake with wet, juicy, luscious rich red heavenly cherries. The dry out is baked earth, old rope, a little woody, a little nutty and ever so slightly powdery sweet. Masterpiece material, really loving this. I can smell this Virginian tobacco absolute on the smelling strip for six whole days. Produced by solvent extracting dried tobacco leaves (Virginia variety), viscous liquid and the colour is dark greenish brown to black-brown.”

Amazing. It’s like a “barnyard” wine meets the finest cigar. There’s a sharp fruity aspect (Adam says cherries- I can see that), like a prune or a dried fig. Definitely a “dry” tobacco, as stated in the product description. I wish I could get a big bottle!

A beautiful, very rich and somewhat sweet tobacco smell that reminds me of cigars and rum. One of my personal favorites! This version from Virginia is not as dry as the Oriental Tobacco (also offered by Hermitage), which is also a great tobacco smell but very different.

This Tobacco Absolute has a shorter tenacity & a drier feel compared with the burley offering also offered by Hermitage, being paradoxically slightly more pungent yet very very smooth. Here is The Fast Train through town packed with intrigue & power. Its ample flute-like smoke integrates well throughout its profile. The full spread of its subtler notes fade in half an hour yet its echo persists for days.

Another masculine beauty ,although not as sweet as the Burley hermitage offers but you can also detect the cherry fruity jam..but also vanilla bean…excellent oil too!!

So suarve and deep, this blends seemlessly with so many materials so long as you don’t overdo it. It has a mature yet sophisticated scent, like a caring old wise grandfather observing everything in the background, unseen yet not unnoticed. That being said this isn’t at all old fashioned smelling, there’s a timelessness about it.

A very masculine long lasting odor but very fine

A rich and generous tobacco scent. It starts off as a moist, fruity-woody tobaccoleaf scent. Soon a chocolate note develops, with a hint of vanilla sweetness and dry leaves. After a couple of hours, the chocolate note remains, while it turns into classic pipe weed tobacco. It is a rich scent with many nuances. Later on, it turns drier and the sweetness disappears. A nice and long scent. I can recommend it for gentlemens scents, very appreciated as colognes and beard oils.

Can’t stop smelling the bottle! Dark, sexy, I want to use this in everything – leather accords, tea, fruit, woodland and musks. Incredible.

This fantastic tobacco absolute distinguishes itself by its gourmand notes. At first, I detect semi-dried plums and dried figs, with somewhat of a powdery sweetness making me imagine them covered in chocolate. This is balanced against grassy, green notes such as from sweet clover, liatris, and green tea. It has just the right amount of green leafiness that is typical of tobacco, without smelling too hay-like. After about two hours, these blend together into dried leaves, yet retaining a deep juicy semi-dried-plums flavour that makes you salivate. An absolute dream of tobacco! It proceeds to fade off very gradually, lasting basically forever on the strip – days minimum. The only notable evolution being that after about nine hours it smells a bit drier, less juicy, but still clearly retaining the dried-fruit notes. These then become more and more dominant until they absorb any notion of leafy tobacco and you are basically left with pure dried fruits, now more on the dried-fig side. The material is also a joy to look at and work with, with silk-smooth, very viscuous but still perfectly pourable dark drops. Overall, this is my favourite tobacco essence and very useful in creating a large variety of men’s perfumes.
