Eleonora Scalseggi has this to say “Boronia absolute is an utterly luxurious aromatic material, very rare, very expensive and most importantly with a heavenly, mouth-watering fruity floral aroma profile. Pourable and dark orange in colour this absolute is warmly yellow floral, sweet violet, infused with sensational fruity juiciness, think of apricots and sweet ripe summer fruit with just a gentle tartness that makes it even more delicious.
Solvent extracted from the flowers of Boronia megastigma, a plant belonging to the Rutaceae family (hence a relative of citruses, no wonder why the flowers smell so heavenly) and growing in very limited areas in South Western Australia, this is possibly the only absolute containing natural ionones, mostly beta-ionone but also smaller amounts of alpha-ionone. Despite the fairly high ionone content the violet feature is far from being dominant in its aroma profile, it’s just a beautiful detail within a masterpiece of far greater splendour, truly exquisite – you could find yourself drooling after a while you have been smelling it on a smelling strip!
It is a material that indeed deserves to be treated as the centrepiece of a perfume, and it will do wonders in violet, mimosa, cassie flower and yellow freesia accords. Very special.”
Arctander has this to say “Boronia Absolute is used in high class floral perfumes and bases, e.g. violet, mimosa, cassie, honeysuckle, sweet pea, etc., and it blends well with sage clary, bergamot, costus, sandalwood, helichrysum, amylcinnamic aldehyde, linalool, salicylates, etc.”

Oh. This. Is. Lovely.
Never heard of Boronia (what a shame) before. But the description of this material was so appealing and inviting I could not resist. And, oh, wow – it delivered! Can not really describe what it smells like (it’s just so interestingly complex and mysterious), but the text is an excellent starting point from which you can start to discover all this juicy, (somewhat forrest -, but for the most part, apricot-) fruity, slightly, but perfectly complementary (or complimentary :)) beta iononic medicinal tartness as said above. The fun never ends with this one.

So excited and so grateful to hermitage store that brought this gem..so rare and actually not easy to review as its almost a perfume by itself..orange blossom as a top note mango, pear and apricots blended in rich violet accord as middle notes and something that reminds me of sweet moss as base ..a must have for serious perfumers collection!!

I spent most of my childhood with my grandparents in the village. They had a wooden shed for hay, where I did children’s quarries all day. When I got the Boronia from Adam, I said to myself: And I’m there again! Even with my kind deceased grandparents. All the beauty of dried hay from daisies, violets, field bitter herbs and grasses. The best thing about Adam’s essences is their association with something you once experienced a long time ago. Violet floats to the surface immediately, Apricot only after time, than Orange blossom as Charalambos writes and dried herbs remain for a long time. This is joy, this is a masterpiece, this is a treasure of Australia, God loves she very much if he has given it such a gift. And I thank Adam for keeping this treasure in his offer for us!
