Adam Michael has this to say “Venezuelan tonka bean absolute, this masterpiece provides something extra aromatically in comparison to the Brazilian grown and French produced alternative we also carry. The opening notes are classic tonka – richness, warmth, dry powdery aspects galore with milky and cloying vanillic qualities. The heart notes are coconut flesh, powdery coumarinic with a joyous sweet grass and nutty undertone. The base notes are rich coumarinic, sweet pudding, somewhat far flung Oriental spicy with the usual dry hay, fruit, and warm herbaceous injection.
As for uses this venezuelan tonka bean absolute helps gourmand accords flourish, pairing beautifully with almonds, coconuts, vanillas, cherries, dried fruits, cinnamon and chocolates. The versatility of this material is actually outstanding, from Christmas themes to capturing the essence of the Tropics or even the English Summertime, this tonka bean absolute is such a significant and wondrous material. Also used for improving herbaceous foundations, developing earth notes, exotic floral and Oriental spice themed bases and is a standard material for the new mown hay accords. I highly recommend this particular tonka bean absolute. Produced by solvent extraction, paste like viscosity and golden yellow in colour.”

It’s February 14 and you’ve been dumped. Like, 4 days ago. By Whatsapp. Things were not perfect for the last couple of weeks, but you do miss cuddling, kissing, and spending hours trying to decide what to watch on Netflix. You’re not down, just… off.
Your best friend calls you. You know, the one you’ve always actually wanted to be your significant other but never had the guts to spit it out to hir.
“Wanna go catch fireflies on the old wheel? Just like old times?”
“Don’t you have anything better to do? Like, going to the movies or whatever with -RANDOM PERSON-?”
“We broke up. 3 days ago.”
You catch fireflies together. You laugh. You speak of a time when everything was simple, earnest, bright. Your hands touch for a second. Your look into hir eyes and your heart explodes.
“Have you never realized, you ditz,” your friend says, “that it has always been you?”

Try to grasp this feeling. That’s what this offering is all about. Electricity. A kiss that lasts for ages. Beauty. Memories of a forgotten paradise, the promise of a new one just behind the corner.
I hadn’t really investigated it in depth. It lasts for ages and a little goes a long way. It is a complete perfume by itself, but it is also versatile enough to improve or ground pretty much anything you may come up with. Fougeres, orientals, gourmands, rustic or refined creations. I can’t fathom something going wrong with this material in the mix.

The beauty of this absolute is the reason i cannot stop ordering oils from hermitage store! You get Honey, powdery beauty and sweet carrot cake ..I’m thinking of using it for something oriental i have in mind and maybe with orris pallida, osmanthus violets to give it a more powdery dimension

One of my favourites. I tried making a tonka accord before I had tonka. Using coumarin plus others and wow, my accords can’t touch the real stuff. Absolutely beautiful scent to my nose.

This Venezuelan absolute from Hermitage Oils, among the best of its kind, displays a perfect balance of Tonka bean’s diverse features: herbaceous, coumarinic warmth and milky, praline sweetness over a powdery, honeyed, fruity (plum) and tobacco dry down. As always, my thanks to Hermitage for allowing independent perfumers to access a raw material of such high quality.

Gourmand and coumarinic, spicy, I even detect a trace of roasted cocoa. Would make a perfect pair with bergamot and lavender in a fougère composition.

This tonka is so beautiful that it’s almost addictive. You may need to use a bain marie method, or some kind of heat to be able to work with it, but it will be well worth the effort.

Venezuela tonka smells more spicy and less sweet than Brazil tonka. Beautiful addictive smell, just dilute to 10 or 20%, and ready to use.

All my other Tonkas are weak in comparison. I haven’t diluted this yet, and of of course, that will be where it shines, but straight from the bottle, a high almond note over hay couramin. This is sweet, luxurious, rich. It is a substantial aroma, and very layered. Not just almond, but sweet roasted nuts, coconuts,, the beach, warm sunshine, the outdoors. I am not an aroma free associates, but I can’t help it, this one takes me places, brings it to me.so happy I went for it – it is very different from my other 4 tonkas!

Tonka bean is a must-have just like lemon or vanilla. Very thick – needs some tender warm loving bain-marie. Highly recommended!

A darling who never ceases to amuse me. Clean, opium, sensual and what’s important – I don’t smell any bitterness like walnuts in it, nor rotten perfumes that are old and synthetic nonsense. Really lively and joyful material. I repeat..darling.

the richest tonka abs. I have. A perfume by itself.
